What it's about:
The warning's rung in Kaelia's ears since she discovered she's far from the ordinary girl who grew up in the costal town of Margate. She has power. The first time she shows it, death strikes, the second, she loses someone special, and on the third, her mother disappears.
Destiny is coming for Kaelia and there's nowhere she can hide. THEY have stepped out of the shadows to find her. For generations, there have been whispers of The Chosen One.
They speak of a name - Marrock - whose destiny entwines with that of The Chosen One.
Kaelia must avenge the wrongs, uncover who Marrock is, find her mother and...
FIGHT.
Facing forces of depraved evil, magic and myth, Kaelia's search leads her through magical forests and unearthly realms.
Who, or what, can Kaelia trust? Is she strong enough to survive the horror? All she knows is her life will never be the same again...

Review
I'm so pleased to be involved in this tour myself and be given the chance to read this book and a huge thank you to Gina for sending me a copy. Mortiswood: Kaelia Awakening is a YA Fantasy with elements of Romance and centres around Kaelia and the prophecy that she is "The Chosen One". The story starts with a few flashbacks to her childhood to show how she powers affected her life and got her to where she is now; alone after her mother goes missing. She encounters a lot of strange and other-worldly creatures and magic - both good and evil - on her journey to finding her mother and under-covering the truth around herself and her powers.
Echoing what a few people have said already, I absolutely love the cover of this book. The vibrant colours smack you straight in the face and the simplicity of just Kaelia and the wolf fits perfectly. The settings in this book are magnificent. I liked the fact it was set in Margate, Kent because I'm not far from there and have visited a few times before so it was nice to read about somewhere close to home and even when Kaelia reaches the more magical and unearthly settings, they're still described with such care that you have no trouble picturing them in your head.
I loved Kaelia as a main character and her transition throughout her life from being a relatively normal girl then having to come to terms with her power and the fact that she could be "The Chosen One". It's a lot for a girl to handle! But she faces everything with bravery, determination and caution like a great protagonist should do. I'm a fan of Fantasy books anyway, but the Fantasy elements in this really blew me away. Some parts genuinely scared me as they were so evil and haunting. Gina really does have an outstanding imagination and undeniable talent for telling stories which might not be all they seem. I would definitely recommend this book for Fantasy lovers, particularly those who may not have ventured into the genre fully or those wanting to introduce themselves to Fantasy/Paranormal based books.
