Today I'm delighted to be hosting a guest post by Gina Dickerson for The Pennington Christmas Curse blog tour!
In writing The Pennington Christmas Curse I wanted to write a story with a fairy tale feel. Although it centres around two sisters, Iysobel and Ziema, there’s also romance, magic, and mystery. I love the winter season (okay, I love different elements of all the seasons really!), so that’s why I chose to set the tale against such a snowy backdrop. There are icicles, frost, and mystical creatures...which were all fun to write!

There’s nothing we love more than being the first to tread in freshly fallen snow, the crunch underneath the boots, the beauty of an expanse of white like the icing on a cake. Being fortunate to live by the coast it can look very beautiful in winter-white. The local park looks dramatic with a snow-carpet and its bare-branched trees; a perfect playground for my Siberian husky who has a great time throwing himself in the snow and burrowing beneath it until he bursts out, completely covered!

Where I live with my family we never have much snow, and there’s certainly not any magic! Both my son and the pooch adore snow. We’re lucky if we see so much as a light dusting each year so when those first flakes begin to flutter from a luminous sky, both of my boys wait, rather impatiently, to see if the dancing flakes will settle.
So far this winter we’ve not seen even the merest hint of a single snowflake...now if only I could borrow the winter magic from the characters in The Pennington Christmas Curse, I’d have a very happy son, and pooch!
