My Inspiration for The Vilincia Coven: The Watcher Came To Me In Several Parts
Like most good things, a reoccurring dream I had gave the characters life and personality. While writing The Vilincia Coven: The Watcher, my dreams would seem to run together like a weekly TV show. Leaving me hanging every morning, but still leaving me with the need to write what I had just imagined. Always recapping on the previous days dream too, it was kind of wild. Definitely the best for my creative writing gene though. I have always been able to see and remember all the vivid details of the scenes settings. Giving words to the visions really brought Cole and Whitney to life for me.
Another of my inspiration comes from one of the most haunted places on earth. It just so happens to be a town nearby. Villisca, IA is a quiet little town you would miss if you blinked. It is also the home town of The Villisca Ax Murder House. 8 people were murdered one summer night in June 1912. The murders are still unsolved to this day. Villisca is on the top ten list for most haunted places on earth, with hundreds of EVP’s of the 6 children that were violently murdered. With a background like that, and the fact that I know a lot about the place, I thought what better place to inspire Vilincia. It definitely isn’t as quiet as Villisca is though. I gave Vilincia a little more paranormal to it.
I took my wild love of all things supernatural and added my past experiences with witchcraft to guide the ride. I studied witch craft when I was in high school, and that proved to give me the inside edge I needed to really bring The Vilincia Coven to life. Witch’s like to work their magic in groups if they can, is create more energy to the rite or spell they are casting. I twisted in the fiction of things life flying and forceful blast of electricity to give it a touch of me. And I don’t know about you, but I for one am sick of vampires!!!
I work for three years writing The Vilincia Coven series. The Watcher is the first and greatest book in my opinion of it all. It has the most emotion and influence over me. I never thought my own writing would make me cry, but I guess I can. It’s powerful and beautiful all at once.
